PORTSMOUTH Are you ready to rock? Mark Defoe sure hopes so, as he hosts the Rock on the River concert series.
As a sister series of Final Fridays, Defoe hopes the concert series will draw a similar crowd Friday, July 9, with several rock bands performing. Final Friday by the River has been going on for a while now, and for those who have many different tastes in music, Defoe hopes the community will come out to “Rock on the River.” ....

Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program Creates More Green Space Across Wisconsin

Three Bridges Park in Milwaukee used Knowles-Nelson funding to turn a vacant rail lot into a new park in 2013.

As people around the world celebrate the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, in Wisconsin those celebrations come with a special nod to Wisconsinite and father of Earth Day Gaylord Nelson.
Nelson is one of the two former Wisconsin governors remembered through The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program the other being Warren Knowles.
Over its 30-plus years, the program has helped preserve 650,000 acres of land across the state. Now it’s up for reauthorization. Gov. Tony Evers is proposing $70 million in funding every year for 10 years. ....

Henry “Hank” Aaron. “Hammerin’ Hank” was one of baseball’s greatest players and a man of enormous accomplishments and integrity. He broke many racial and cultural barriers, and the Trail, which connects the diverse neighborhoods of the greater Milwaukee area, exemplifies his legacy. We thank Mr. Aaron and his family for their dedication to our community, and offer our heartfelt condolences. ....
