Woodside plans solar project to power Pluto LNG
Woodside is investigating the supply of approximately 50 MW of solar energy to the Pluto LNG facility on Western Australia’s Burrup Peninsula, it said on May 27.
The solar power would be supplied from the proposed Woodside Power Project, which could comprise more than 210,000 solar panels. The company said it had undertaken a range of environmental, geotechnical and engineering studies and is progressing key stakeholder consultations ahead of seeking regulatory approvals for the power project.

National government pours cold water on Gauteng MEC's comments on 'scrapping' e-tolls

Sunrise show.
Grootes explored the matter further, and Mamabolo insisted: “They are scrapped.”
Shortly after the interview, however, the MEC then did an about-turn on his statements, saying on Twitter he had noted a “misleading tweet” from @SAfmnews on the issue.
“All we can say as Gauteng is that national government will make an announcement on e-tolls and we are positive it will be favourable to our position which is public knowledge.”
Transport minister Fikile Mbalula clarified in a statement that Mamabolo was articulating a position which the Gauteng government was lobbying the national government to adopt.
Both Ntshavheni and Mbalula said the matter was still under consideration.

“For the sake of the vote!”
Those are the words of Loyiso Masuku, Johannesburg ANC deputy secretary and member of the mayoral committee for corporate and shared services.
Masuku and Gauteng community safety MEC Faith Mazibuko, feature in a video doing the rounds on social media where they appear to be belittling the same voter base they are trying to recruit from.
The two, together with other ANC members, are seen eating chicken feet at an informal settlement as part of their campaign trail for the by-elections held on Wednesday.

R6.3bn cut in KZN education budget will 'severely' affect pupils and teachers — MEC

“The affect of the budget cuts of R6.3bn will severely be felt by learners in the classroom. Because of these budget cuts, it is now a reality that we will have classrooms that will be left without educators; that schools will not be sufficiently supported by district offices; that head offices will not be able to effectively support the entire system,” he said.
“Cutting off unnecessary and unapproved travelling of staff members; limiting approved travelling kilometres to 1,750; capping KZN cars' petrol cards to R3,000 a month; cutting on legal costs; proper management of staff leave and exit packages; and consolidation of small and non-viable schools — these measures will not fully mitigate against the affect of budget cuts,” said Mshengu.
