Officials are concerned about a recent COVID-19 outbreak at a nursing home in Yarmouth on Cape Cod. 
According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, 24 residents and nine staff members at the Maplewood at Mayflower Place nursing home have tested positive for COVID since July 10, 
The Boston Globe reported. The outbreak grew quickly: just last week, on July 16, the 
Cape Cod Times reported that over 10 people had tested positive for the virus. ....

COVID outbreak in Cape Cod nursing home hits vaccinated residents

More than 10 employees and residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at Maplewood at Mayflower Place in recent days, Bruce Murphy, health director for the town of Yarmouth, said Friday.
Most of the cases have occurred in vaccinated individuals who have not fallen seriously ill, he said.
“Right now, it’s just been a mild illness.”
The nursing home cases coincide with a spate of positive, but also mild, cases of coronavirus among vaccinated people who were tested recently at the Outer Cape Health Services office in Provincetown.
“We could just be at the beginning of seeing a resurgence,” Murphy said. ....

WEST YARMOUTH - An outbreak of COVID-19 cases at a West Yarmouth nursing home is spurring concerns about the resurgence of the coronavirus during the busy summer tourist season.
More than 10 employees and residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at Maplewood at Mayflower Place in recent days, Bruce Murphy, health director for the town of Yarmouth, said Friday.
Most of the cases have occurred in vaccinated individuals who have not fallen seriously ill, Murphy said.
