Mount Pleasant offers hurricane prep, disaster tips for businesses

Every year around this time, South Carolina residents take a deep breath and step into hurricane season, which officially begins June 1 and lasts through Nov. 30.
While each storm typically allows a few days to prepare, the decision to evacuate can often come last minute for homeowners and businesses. That’s why business owners, and Lowcountry residents in general, are being urged to prepare ahead of time by creating an efficient plan, performing inventory and gathering important documents, ready to be grabbed at a moment’s notice.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - What do you do when your COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru line is backed up? You seek out the professionals.
That’s what Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie did calling up the expertise of Chick-fil-A manager Jerry Walkowiak.
In a tweet posted on Jan. 22, Haynie posted a video of Walkowiak in action at one of the town’s vaccination drive-thru centers showcasing the manager in action, saying, ”When you need help, call the pros.” ....

We’re in an arms race and I’m a winner. At least my left arm is and, because it’s attached to me, I’m a winner. I don t think I m going out on a limb here.
But this battle to get COVID-19 vaccines into arms is not a fair fight and we need to do something about it.

In Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, the town’s drive-through COVID vaccination system suffered a computer glitch. Quick-thinking Mayor Will Haynie called in the undisputed drive-through champions: Chick-Fil-A.
“We asked local Chic Fil A (sic) manager Jerry Walkowiak for help today after a computer glitch backed up things at the drive-through vaccination site. Instead of just giving advice, this video shows what he did,” the mayor wrote. ....
