Youths storm Fulani settlement as herdsman kill Osun farmer

A yet to be identified Fulani herdsman on Tuesday reportedly hacked a farmer in Ijabe, Osun State, identified as Ridwan, to death.
Ridwan was said to be working on his farm at Bole village along Iba Road when the herdsman attacked him.
A source in Ijabe town told our correspondent that Ridwan had misunderstanding with the herdsman that killed him sometime last year.
The source said the deceased had accused the herdsman of grazing his cattle on his farm, adding that the duo had a frosty relationship since the incident happened.
He said, “After the Fulani man had perpetrated the act, and the news of the attack filtered into town, some residents mobilised to the settlement of the Fulani herders and seized three people, including the man accused of committing the crime. ....

Archbishop Eamon Martin noted the report said people with information about the burial of children born in the homes may not have come forward, and he appealed for them to do so.
âAll burial grounds should be identified and appropriately marked so that the deceased and their families will be recognized and never be forgotten,â he said.
The report uncovered âdisturbing and painful truths about our pastâ, and exposed the âculture of isolation, secrecy and social ostracizingâ which faced unmarried mothers and their children, he said.

DHAKA: All-rounder Romario Shepherd has failed a coronavirus test ahead of the West Indies’ arrival in Bangladesh, further depleting a squad already reeling from coronavirus problems.
The West Indies squad, due to arrive in Dhaka on Sunday, has already lost eight established stars including Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo who chose not to travel in the pandemic.
West Indies have called up Keon Harding to replace Shepherd in the squad which will play three one-day internationals, two Twenty20s and two Tests in Bangladesh.
The tourists will undergo seven days’ quarantine after their arrival. The first ODI is January 20. ....
