It’s been an exciting weekend for motorcycle enthusiasts as the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta hosted a number of MotoAmerica events. For us, by far the most spectacular was the first race of what is now the King of the Baggers series.

Born last year as a single run at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, King of the Baggers morphed for 2021 into a small series of three races, and attracted significantly more involvement from both Indian and Harley-Davidson. The former went on the starting grid with no fewer than three factory-backed teams, while the latter enlisted its own factory team and backed four other Harley-Davidson riders. ....

BRASELTON, GA Professional motorcycle racing returns to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend with the inaugural races of the MotoAmerica Championship Series for 2021. Featuring the country s top motorcycle road racers, the weekend-long event kicks off with qualifiers on Friday, followed by two full days of racing Saturday and Sunday.
Three riders have Georgia connections:
Matthew Scholtz is originally from South Africa, and he lives and trains in Woodstock with his Westby Racing team. Racing in the Honos Superbike class, Scholtz suffered a severe ankle injury at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2020 that ended his season. After multiple surgeries and rehabilitation, Scholtz is fully recovered and ready to return. ....

It’s not long now until the first-ever MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series kicks off. It will happen this weekend at the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, when Harley and Indian baggers will line up on the starting grid of the first-of-three race in the competition.

The King of the Baggers event was first held last year as a single race that went down in history. Then, two specially prepared Indian Challengers, ridden by Tyler O’Hara and Frankie Garcia, not only managed to fend off a large pack of Harley-Davidsons, but clinched the first and last positions of the podium. ....

IMSA has announced date changes for the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway and the season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta following Thursday’s announcement that the 24 Hours of Le Mans has been moved to Aug. 21-22.
The new Le Mans date falls on the originally scheduled IMSA weekend at Virginia International Raceway, which was slated to have a live, NBC network television window for the two-hour, 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race featuring the GT Le Mans (GTLM) and GT Daytona (GTD) classes. ....

A proposal for car condos in South Hall will be heard by the Hall County Planning Commission on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.
Update, March 1: A “car condos” business, two tattoo businesses and a self-storage development on Spout Springs Road went before the Hall County Planning Commission Monday, March 1.
A vote on a proposed 104,000-square-foot car condos development has been postponed to a date “to be determined.”
The developer is looking at acquiring more property, which could potentially change the project’s site plan, Hall Planning Director Sarah McQuade told the commission.
Based on that update, the commission voted to table the request from Oakwood-based The Dell Group. ....
