Public health: 'maintain caution' | News, Sports, Jobs

FAIRMONT According to a joint release from Public Health services, Mayo Health System of Fairmont, United Hospital District of Blue Earth, Dulcimer Medical Center, County Emergency Management, and the South Central Health Care Coalition, as of March 5, 2021, 4,391 Martin County individuals have received at least their first vaccination for COVID-19. 18 percent of the population has received at least one dose. 35 percent of the population of people age 65 and older have received vaccinations.
In Faribault County, 2,975 individuals have received at least their first vaccination for COVID-19. 18 percent of the total population has received at least one dose.
It is expected that the state will hit its target of vaccinating 70 percent of those over age 65 this week. Local public health and health care providers are preparing to move into the next tier of vaccinations which includes people with specific high-risk conditions (sickle cell disea ....

WILLIAMSPORT– On Tuesday, Feb. 23, representatives from UPMC, Susquehanna Regional EMS, and the PPL Foundation unveiled UPMC’s Special Response Vehicle, a new resource for emergency response in northcentral Pennsylvania.
“Today has been a long time coming for our region,” said Jim Slotterback, manager, Emergency Preparedness, UPMC in the Susquehanna Region. “Within the last decade we’ve seen a significant increase in demand for special resources like this vehicle across the state and locally. It not only addresses a vulnerability of mass transportation and care in emergency situations, but it also supports community health, education, and outreach. ....

Local vaccines still rolling out | News, Sports, Jobs

FAIRMONT As the country seemingly begins to see progress in combating COVID-19, local efforts are slowly but surely underway. Community Health sanitarian Tim Langer of Community Health and Human Services of Faribault and Martin Counties recently shared that patience is a virtue when it comes to receiving the vaccine.
Langer has also noted that Human Services would periodically provide updates on local efforts. In keeping with that effort, Langer shared some information from Human Services.
As of Jan. 30, 2021, 1,307 individuals in Martin County have received at least their first vaccination for COVID-19. 6.5 percent of the population has received at least one dose. 903 individuals in Faribault County have received at least their first vaccination for COVID-19. 6.5 percent of the population has received at least one dose. January 26, one day ahead of schedule. All 100 doses were distributed to individuals identified in priority group 1A ....
