City University of New York Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez has followed through on increasing faculty diversity. Nine new college presidents – including two Asian Americans, three African Americans and three women – were appointed in the past year. Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, CUNY established the Chancellor’s Emergency Relief Fund with $1 million each from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation and the James and Judith K. Dimon Foundation. This grew to more than $8 million by the fall and allowed CUNY to distribute emergency grants to more than 10,000 students.

ALBANY, N.Y. â The Capital New York Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) has awarded CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) three 2020 Project of the Year Awards across multiple categories. CHA s award-winning projectsâCity of Troy Seawall Stabilization, Roosevelt II Bathhouse, and the Albany International Airport Parking Garageâwere recognized at the Capital Branch APWA Virtual Awards Banquet.
The APWA Capital Branch Awards Program celebrates public works projects in the New York Capital District. Awards are given to projects demonstrating superior technology or management innovations, safety performance, environmental considerations, community relations, or accomplishments under adverse conditions.

The jury is still out on the success of Jamestown’s inclusion in a statewide initiative to assist communities with transforming housing, economic development, transportation and community projects in downtown urban centers.
The statewide program is known as the Downtown Revitalization Initiative, which was started in 2016 by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who announced the $100 million investment into 10 downtown communities – one municipality from each of the Regional Economic Development Councils. Jamestown won the competition in the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council during the first year of the program. ....
