Four members of a California militia group associated with the anti-government Boogaloo movement were indicted on obstruction charges for a scheme to destroy records related to the shooting of two federal officers in Oakland, the Justice Department announced on Friday.
A federal grand jury indicted Jesse Alexander Rush, 29; Robert Jesus Blancas, 33; Simon Sage Ybarra, 23; and Kenny Matthew Miksch, 21, on charges of conspiring to destroy communications and other records to thwart an investigation into the May 29, 2020, drive-by shooting of Federal Protective Service officers in Oakland, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California Stephanie Hinds and FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig Fair said, according to a news release. ....

Four members of a Northern California militia were indicted Friday for allegedly obstructing justice and destroying records related to the May shooting death of a federal officer in Oakland by another member of their extremist group.
The federal indictment unsealed Friday revealed that the shooting suspect, Steven Carrillo, told fellow members of the militia via a secured message app that he killed the federal officer, and he warned them that he was about to engage Santa Cruz sheriffâs deputies in a gun battle during which he would kill another law enforcement officer. SAN FRANCISCO Four members of a California militia group associated with the anti-government “boogaloo” movement were indicted Friday on charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice in connection with a scheme to destroy records related to last year’s killing in Oakland of a federal Protective Services officer and the wounding of his partner, the U.S. Justice Department said.
The men are accused of conspiring to destroy communications and other records about the May 29, 2020, killing of federal security officer David Patrick Underwood and attempted murder of his partner as they guarded the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building in Oakland. ....
