Tributes to slave traders and colonialists removed across UK

Scores of tributes to slave traders, colonialists and racists have been taken down or will be removed across the UK, a Guardian investigation has found, with hundreds of others under review by local authorities and institutions.
In what was described by historians as an “unprecedented” public reckoning with Britain’s slavery and colonial past, an estimated 39 names – including streets, buildings and schools – and 30 statues, plaques and other memorials have been or are undergoing changes or removal since last summer’s Black Lives Matter protests.
The movement to remove contentious landmarks has involved a wide section of society, from schools and universities to private landlords, pubs, churches, charitable trusts and councils. ....

BBC Claims Jesus Was 'Palestinian'

A BBC World Service radio program aired a show in the runup to Christmas titled “Black Jesus,” in which presenter Robert Beckford made the anachronistic claim that Jesus was a “Palestinian,” even though that term came into use a century later.
Throughout the show, Beckford repeatedly referred to Jesus as a “first-century Palestinian Jew.” As noted by monitoring group the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), which first broke the story, the term “Palestinian” came into common more than a hundred years after Jesus’ crucifixion in the aftermath of the Bar Kokhba Revolt against the Roman Empire. ....

BBC Promotes Anti-Semitic Myth 'Jesus Was Palestinian'

The BBC is at it again, pushing Palestinian propaganda that Jesus was one of them, rather than a Jewish resident of the territory that was known historically as Judea.
The BBC World Service radio program “Heart and Soul,” aired initially on December 18th and available for listening online, was hosted by British theology professor Robert Beckford.
Beckford interviewed several people, including one who correctly says that Jesus was a Jewish Judean, but concluded the show by switching back to the Palestinian narrative.
“The color of Jesus matters, both literally and symbolically,” Beckford said at the end of his broadcast. “A first century Palestinian Jew had color. And if the Christian god is found amongst the oppressed of this earth, then God must be black.” ....
