Tampa protesters call for change in Cuba Jordan Bowen reports TAMPA, Fla. - Bay Area Cuban Americans held protests in Tampa Monday. A few dozen demonstrators came together on Armenia Avenue to express frustrations over conditions in the Communist country, including internet outages in the country, resulting in many having trouble contacting their loved ones. Julianna Penton told FOX 13 News she has more than 30 family members in Cuba has not been able to video chat with them. Through text messages, they described a scary situation where people are in desperate need of supplies. Penton and several other demonstrators were calling for an end to the country’s dictatorship.

Assistant State Attorney Jared Gainey represented the state at the hearing. Fabelo-Cedeno also must complete 200 hours of community service, pay a little more than $6,500 in restitution to the Florida Citrus Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture law enforcement for their investigation, plus pay fines and court cost.  As part of his agreement, Fabelo-Cedeno may not have any contact with his co-defendants: Frank Lopez-Benítez, 32, and Armando Carbonell-Rabi, 29, whose cases remain pending. Fabelo-Cedeno was told that his no contest plea could result in him being deported. Fernandez, who also speaks Spanish, told the court a detention hold is expected to be placed on his client. Fabelo-Cedeno was born in Cuba, according to his arrest report.
