"The Stand" finale is aggravating confirmation that Stephen King still needs more Black friends

spoilers from the Season 1 of The Stand, including its finale.
If you watched all nine episodes of the CBS All Access remake of The Stand  . . . why? Why did you do that to yourself?
This is not a facetious query, I swear. I m asking because I wanted to understand why you willingly subjected yourself to nine hours of a series that established its predictability and mediocrity by the third episode. You experienced the stupidity of this version s Trashcan Man as interpreted by an actor who really should know better, Ezra Miller. Miller took one of the better-known characters from Stephen King s ginormous novel and transformed him into a slavering, blithering idiot, adding one more thing to despise atop a mountain of mediocrity. ....

The Stand: How The Walk Differs from Stephen King s Book
The seventh episode of
The Stand arrived on CBS All Access on Thursday with The Walk seeing the aftermath of both the bomb and Mother Abagail s (Whoopi Goldberg) return as well as, as the title of the episode suggests, the departure of Stu Redman (James Marsden), Glen Bateman (Greg Kinnear), Ray Brentner (Irene Bedard), and Larry Underwood (Jovan Adepo) for Vegas on foot. While this episode was largely a travel montage as the group made their way to face the Dark Man, there were some major plot points. With next week being the penultimate episode of the limited series, there were some big developments this week but they came with some critical differences from Stephen King s novel, and we re breaking them down. ....

The Stand: How "Pocket Savior" Differs from Stephen King's Book

The Stand: How Pocket Savior Differs from Stephen King s Book
The second episode of
The Stand debuted on CBS All Access on Thursday and while last week s The End introduced viewers to a handful of the story s major characters as well as the terrifying super flu that brings their paths together, this week s Pocket Savior introduces viewers to even more significant characters including a proper introduction to Randall Flagg. However, while the nine-part limited series is largely a faithful adaptation of Stephen King s epic novel of the same name, this episode also contained some significant differences from the page to the screen and we re breaking down some of the major ones we spotted as the story deepens. ....

Spoilers for The Stand Episode 2 Pocket Savior
CBS All Access’ Stephen King adaptation, ‘The Stand’, set the stage for the horror author’s apocalyptic vision in the first episode. The show depicts a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. Episode 1 saw a weaponized strain of influenza (dubbed “Captain Trips”) kill almost the entire world population, leaving a handful of survivors — it has a supposed fatality rate of 99 percent.
Of them, Stu Redman (James Marsden) from Arnette, Texas, Frannie Goldsmith (Odessa Young) from Ogunquit, Maine, and Harold Lauder (Owen Teague) from Boulder, Colorado, all have the same vision. It is of Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) telling them to come see her in Nebraska. Mother Abagail claims to be a prophet of God and leads the “good” survivors of the “Captain Trips” plague. Having lived a long life of 108 ....
