May 1, 2021 | Reported By : PTI The COVID-19 vaccination of eligible jail inmates is in progress and was started from the holding centre housing over 200 illegal immigrants from Myanmar here, Director General of Police, Prisons Department, V K Singh said on Saturday. He said there are no coronavirus positive cases among over 4,500 inmates in any of the 13 jails across the Union Territory, which is a big achievement despite the lethal second wave which forced the department to suspend the physical meeting of the inmates with their relatives for their safety. The COVID-19 vaccination drive was started on April 6 from the Holding Centre Hiranagar in Kathua district, where 58 eligible internees were inoculated. Srinagar central jail saw ....
The government Friday deferred the vaccination drive for the age group of 18-45. DIPR Jammu and Kashmir tweeted: “While the registration for vaccination of eligibles persons in the age group 18-45 has been opened on COWIN, the actual vaccination will not begin from 1 May 2021. It will begin from a date to be announced later once the vaccine supply is established.” In another tweet DIPR said: “Vaccination will not be a walk in but only through pre-registration of slots. No slots have been opened for booking a session. Please wait for the announcement of the vaccination start date for the 18-45 age group.” ....

April 28, 2021 | Reported By : PTI All those aged above 18 can register themselves on the CoWIN portal or using the Aarogya Setu app to get vaccinated against COVID-19 starting 4 pm on Wednesday, the Union Health Ministry said as the government gears up to launch the third phase of vaccination drive from 1 May. Registration for the newly eligible category for COVID-19 vaccination opens today at 4 pm on cowin.gov.in and Aarogya Setu app, the ministry tweeted. After registration, taking an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine jab would be mandatory for those aged between 18 and 44 years as walk-ins will not be allowed initially, officials had said. ....

Fauci was speaking to reporters during a conference call on Tuesday. This is something where we re still gaining data on a daily basis. But the most recent data, was looking at convalescent Sera of COVID-19 cases and people who received the vaccine used in India, the Covaxin. It was found to neutralise the 617 variants, he said. So, despite the real difficulty that we re seeing in India, vaccination could be a very, very important antidote against this, Fauci added. ....
