“Can we agree,” Robert Abela asked, “that passport sales have been fundamentally good for us? In the pandemic, the passport scheme enabled struggling people to be subsidised. All the scheme needs is fixing.”
I’ve paraphrased, of course but that’s the prime minister’s take: not just on passport sales but also on political morality.
Morality? Yes, for Abela also condemned the Passport Papers revelations as another “targeted attack” on Malta “that has to stop”. If that’s not moral condemnation, what is?
It’s easy to retort in several ways. Were the Luxembourg Leaks (2014) an attack on Luxembourg, the Swiss Leaks (2015) an attack on Switzerland, the Panama Papers (2016) on Panama? ....

Matthew Caruana Galizia, an award-winning investigative journalist, was nominated by Gwendolyn “Wendy” Green, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires.
The U.S. Embassy selected Caruana Galizia because of his work exposing financial crime, money laundering, and tax evasion.
“This award honours individuals who have worked tirelessly, often in the face of adversity, to defend transparency, combat corruption, and ensure accountability in their own countries,” Green said.
Caruana Galizia was a lead engineer in the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists’ (ICIJ) investigations into six major global corruption investigations:  Offshore Leaks, Swiss Leaks, Luxembourg Leaks, Fatal Extracti ....

US embassy nominates Matthew Caruana Galizia for Anti-Corruption Champions award


The US embassy in Malta has nominated Matthew Caruana Galizia for the US Secretary of State’s International Anti-Corruption Champions award.
Matthew is the son of slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and is himself an award-winning investigative journalist. 
The US embassy said the award honours individuals who have worked tirelessly, often in the face of adversity, to defend transparency, combat corruption, and ensure accountability in their own countries.
Caruana Galizia was nominated because of his work exposing financial crime, money laundering, and tax evasion .
