'That white boy didn't lose': Ossoff's revenge with a little help from Warnock - TheGrio

“I’ve got the title for your next article!”
That was the first text I saw after my flight landed in Atlanta, Georgia when I turned on my phone. It was from a friend who’s plugged into Georgia politics who has a way with words. Democrats' Historic Georgia Senate Wins Were Years in the Making Thanks to Local Grassroots

Just two months later, Georgia voters made history again in two competitive runoff elections by sending Democrats to the Senate for the first time in two decades. Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, will be the first Black senator from Georgia. Documentary filmmaker Jon Ossoff will be the first Jewish senator from the state and the youngest senator in the new Congress.
Strong turnout from Black voters and other voters of color fueled Warnock and Ossoff s historic wins in Georgia – the culmination of on-the-ground organizing and voter mobilization efforts years in the making.
More than 4.4 million ballots have already been counted in the runoffs, shattering turnout records for such elections in Georgia. When all votes are tallied, turnout could reach as high as roughly 92% of turnout from the general election, according to NBC projections. ....

Atlanta, Dec 30 (efe-epa).- Democrats want to repeat the formula that led them to victory in the Nov. 3 presidential election in Georgia and they are relying on the local Hispanic vote in the crucial runoffs for the state’s two US Senate seats in early January, races that will decide which party holds the majority in the upper house.
In the final stretch of the campaign, Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock have redoubled their efforts to secure the decisive support of the Latino community, which – along with African Americans in Georgia – formed a coalition that helped Joe Biden defeat President Donald Trump in the state and nationwide. ....
