Group Berates Ex-minister over Comments on LASU Headship

A group, the Concerned Indigenes of Lagos State (CILS) yesterday rebuked a former Minister of Communications, Maj. Gen. Tajudeen Olarenwaju (rtd) over what its members described as “clannish remarks” on the current contest for the headship of the Lagos State University (LASU).
In a statement made available to journalists, the group led by Mr. Oluwole Fatai, argued that it was unbecoming of a supposed elder statesman to oppose an eminently qualified Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, for reasons other than on the grounds of incompetence.
The group wondered why politics should be introduced into an institution of higher learning like LASU, urging that the best candidate should be given the job. ....

Diabetes patients lament lack of govt policy, high cost of treatment

People living with diabetes in Nigeria have lamented the high cost of medication and treatment for the condition.
They also decry how perceived lack of government policy worsens their condition.
This is even as experts say there are between three- andfive million people living with diabetes in the country.
Speaking with our correspondent, the South-West Chairman, Diabetes Association of Nigeria, Abdulwahab Dauda, said there was no policy for diabetes in the country.
“The government doesn’t even know we exist. It’s only some of the pharmaceutical companies that support us.
“There is no policy to support our condition in the country. We have been making moves regarding this, but, so far, we have not succeeded. ....

Scientists endorse herb for treatment of male infertility

Infertility is more common than imagined. Men are estimated to cause or contribute to infertility problems in about 40 per cent of cases, with reduced sperm production and problems that keep healthy sperm from reaching the egg among the most common causes.
The use of certain medications has been found to alter sperm production, function, and delivery. These are pharmaceutical drugs often used in the treatment of infections, depression, arthritis, hypertension, and cancer.
Certain treatments are used for males with infertility issues. However, scientists increasingly investigate the use of all-natural remedies to help a male body become more fertile.
