2021 NFL Draft Grades For All 32 Teams

We heard rumblings about 24 hours before the first round that the Cardinals were likely to take Collins, though he was someone expected to go in the mid-to-late 20’s. Could they have traded back and landed him? Maybe. But his versatility combined with that of Isaiah Simmons and Budda Baker make this a tough defense to play against. Moore makes so much sense in the second round, as we still don’t know if Larry Fitzgerald will return. No matter what, he’s a perfect fit to play the slot in their offense. I liked Gowan better than Wilson, so getting him two rounds later saved their score a bit, as Wilson seemed like a bit of a reach. If there’s one thing I would’ve liked to see them do, it was to add a nose tackle seeing as many of them fell much further than expected.

Show Transcript
Hello everyone welcome back to high school T dot com. I'm Joel Bryant here with Kyle more and we have a special guest for you today. We have Jordan reed from the draft network ahead of the NFL draft. This thursday, friday and saturday. Um He's a popular guy. He's a he's a scout. He is what 50,000 followers on twitter? He's a little bit now. I really respect his work and everything they do over there. He's actually an N. C. Guy. He played at T. W. Andrews high School and then and petrol for asking about that a little bit so we can bring him in now if you're ready, Kyle. All right. Hello Jordan. Welcome to the show. Thank you so much for joining us. Strange thank you guys for having me. It's a pleasure being here. Absolutely. Uh you know we we just intrude you a little bit. Uh your north Carolina guy, you played at T. W. Andrews and then at N. C. Central um what did your experiences with with football in north Carolina kind of teach you about the football culture in this state and what have you kind of taken with you as you progress through your career? Mhm. Well you know north Carolina has always been known as a basketball state in a sense. I mean we could go on and on. As far as the names that have come from the state as far as back. But I think there's a lot of talented football players in the state and a lot of people don't really give it his credit. Or is it do justice as far as the players that have come out of this state from a football standpoint and this draft is a great example of that. And I'm sure we're going to go through some names here in the second of where we're going to see some some high caliber names that have come from the state, Maybe that have switched positions or that have come from big time programs as well. So there's a lot of good football that is played in the state. And you know, I'm, I'm very prideful when it comes to the state just because it's not only some good basketball that's played here, but also some good football as well. Absolutely. We're going to jump right into some of those names. We're going to start at the top Caleb Farley out of Maiden High School in Virginia Tech. You guys at the draft network have him ranked as the number seven prospect in the class, quarterback in high school went to Virginia Tech as a wide receiver, but he's really found his calling at corner. What are some of the things that you like about his game and what do you know, what kind of makes him project as such? A strong talent to the NFL Yeah, He's had one of the more interesting, uh, predraft process is, I should talk about, I should say. But you know, everybody knows about everything that's going on with him right now with, with the back injuries and things of that nature. But if we're just talking about the player that's on the field, I think he's by far the top 10 talent in this class and very raw just because he's only a player that played cornerback two years and something like you mentioned, he was a quarterback in high school coming out of Maiden. So big time player coming out, they were very excited to get them there. Um, he transitioned to wide receiver for a little as well. They experimented with him there as well before he made the switch fully to cornerback. Um, But as far as a prospect I think he's very talented big guy about six ft two Shade over £200 as well. Standing ball skills. I think that's the biggest stands out about him very fluid as well and I could go on and on as far as the games that he played well in 2019 prior to opting out of the 2020 season and I still expect him to go top 20 in my opinion. I still think he'll go in that range. But if you take injuries aside he's a top 10 player without question in this draft. I was I was reading up on your your scouting report that you guys have on them. Uh The man to man coverage stood out in the ball skills but the tackling maybe a little bit of weakness that kind of reminds me reading about C. J. Henderson last year a little bit. Is there a recent prospect that that you see him as comparable to in terms of the corner position you think? Um I don't have anybody recently that I think it compares favorably to. I know there's some people saying that he reminds uh Marlon Humphrey from the Ravens. Uh That's a that's a comment that I really agree with as far as from a size speed and then height weight standpoint as far as what he could be on the next level as well. So Humphrey definitely is one comparison that I think is very valuable. But I mean we're talking about a big time talent here guys. Yeah next up here we have Javonte Williams running back from north Carolina. Um He wants he wants championship every year of his high school career. Wallace Rose Hill people out east, they saw him as a terror. Just an absolutely force on both sides of the ball. Running back linebacker. So we we knew for a while that he was very good. I think he's a little bit under recruited coming out of high school. He had to get the Carolina offers a little bit later in the process. But what has he been able to do oversight of Carolina? That's really made a a big NFL prospect here? Well I just talked about his background a little bit for six G. P. A. Coming out was about a victorian. I think that's something that isn't said about him enough. He actually was very close to going to Yale. Uh He explored some options there before going to north Carolina And like you mentioned very un recruited player, primarily played linebacker when he was at wireless roles here. A very very accomplished program. They're still doing a really good job there. I still believe they're in the four he ranks, if I'm not mistaken. Uh, they were a big time program there. So with Javonte in north Carolina, he really hit his stride this past season. Really shared a bulk of the carries with Michael carter, another very talented player in this draft class, but just very physical, um, determined running. Um, like I said, I think he has tried this year was outstanding as far as the tackle breaker. He's already a professional tackle breaker as well. And you know, it's all a really interesting story leading up to his pro day of how he was under recruited and then Larry Fedora. So the final state championship game of where he just was absolutely incredible in that game and that's all he needed to see in order to offer him. So that was a really funny story that he was able to tell during the lead up to his product. Yeah, I was actually, I was actually covering that game in the very first play of the game. He took the ball 80 yards for a touchdown. You could see everything. I just on that one run to contact balance division, everything. So special player Kyle, who we got next, definitely good fortune for the tar heels that will, has happened to be at keenan for that championship game. We have Landon Dickerson up next the center for the reigning national champion Alabama. Crimson Tide out of south caldwell. I believe he was recruited as an offensive tackle, the number three or so prospect in north Carolina and his high school class transition to the interior played center for Alabama. Um, what do you like about Dickerson and what kind of offense could you see him fitting in? The NFL? Yes yeah leader. That's the first thing that really stands out about landing and everywhere that he has been. He's been seen the heartbeat of the offensive line and once again similar to Javonte Williams. He's really hit his stride over these past two seasons and you know, he had some challenging times at florida state. They really were playing them all over the place. He primarily played left tackle and then guard and even playing right tackle. Is that florida State there as well? Big time recruit I believe it was a five star coming out, one of the more higher ranked offensive lineman to ever come out of the state. So everybody knows his pedigree and as far as what it was made up. And I think that mental aspect really still speaks to him to this day just because he's faced a rash of injuries throughout his career. Uh you know, ankle surgeries and torn A. C. L. This past season. But he's just an excuse of energy. That's the thing that you love to see as far as the center came onto campus and was named team captain right away this past season as well. And the thing that I love about land is that you know, the adversity that yes, he's never let that overcome of what his dreams were and then you go out and see him in the national championship game. He actually went out there as a team captain and he actually was suit up in four years, which I thought was credit to his his character, how much Nick Saban loved him as well. You never see Saban go out of his way to do things for guys like that. So I think land and he's going to be a really special player. But the durability is something that you really worry about with him right now. That's really the only red flag on his resume. Where do you ultimately see him falling? Because you know, he had to enter into the sec championship, but we saw him at the pro day doing what cartwheels across the field in the background. So he clearly, you know, he's he's covered nicely so far where you just what range you see him falling in. Okay. It's tough just because you know, there's 32 different teams and everybody's going to have a different medical report on him. So I can't really speak on where he's going to go. But if we just take the injury portion out of it, he's first round all day long. But if I had to guess, I would say second or third round I still think he ends up going there and there's a lot of teams that need a starting center right now. Like I said, if you take the injury equation out of it, this is without question. I think the top into your locker and all of the draft awesome. So Ali McNeil from uh NC State, he actually committed to NC State on our platform high school t on a livestream. So it's kind of fun for us to see him now. He's gonna get his name called pretty soon here. So um interior defensive line prospect, he played linebacker in college. Um Where do you see him fitting into the NFL? Another player that's really interesting, outstanding baseball player when he was at Sanderson. I think he had some offers when he was playing baseball to, I'm not sure the position that he played but when I was in my background check on him, yeah, I saw some video he was heading to like 304 100 ft was easy to see a flare of his stature. You know, a big guy to about six ft 2, 300 plus pounds. So um, his, his little is also incredible. It's always running back. Um, the highlights that he had a Sanderson was just out of this world and then he had to pick six this year. I think it was against Virginia where he was able to show off some of the athleticism too. So he's got his athletic for his size and I think he's probably gonna hear his name somewhere on day two. If I had to guess right now. I think the third round is probably a fair range for him but he can come in right away and be a starting wanted me in my opinion, very mature individual as well. Just talking to a lot of people within that facility, they just glow about his leadership and once again, another guy that's a team captain as well. So I don't have any words as far as his projection to the next level. Uh, Deonte Brown out of north Carolina and west Mecklenburg. We were talking about him before the show actually before you came on, he's, I think maybe the prospect that interest both of us the most. Um, he was a deep threat, the home run ball guy for sam, how like Carolina. Uh, he runs about a 446 so that, that deep ball threat may not be play as well in the NFL, but what is it about his game that leads you to believe that he can adopt and still be a really strong receiver um, you know, without being a me cole hardman type player, necessarily big fan of this player guys and you know, coming out of West Mick, he was a various player as well, but I believe he was around a three star if I'm not mistaken. So he wasn't a super highly touted type of player. But another one once Villalonga and matt Brown got in there, he really started to hit the dried average 20 kitsch a season ago. So even though he was playing in only that deep threat role, I think he can do much more than that. And long ago really only allowed him to be that deep third type of guy, you know, attacking the third level of the field proportions. But if you watch them against NC State florida state, there's another game of where they kind of let him attack those underneath areas of where he really was able to show how well diverse of a route run he is as well. Strong hands, plays very strong, clean route runner. I actually have my top 50 right now. So I'm a big fan of the AMI and I really like his progression to the next level. Yeah, we're excited to see where he lands. I think he could make an impact pretty pretty quickly to wide receivers where he's going to go, Joel. Who do we have next? So I'm going to ask about two guys in a pair. I'm such a serious Ledeen and Divine Diablo. These are two bigger safeties serial Dean went to Concord and florida State. Diablo from Mount Tabor and West Virginia Tech. Um, pretty big safeties. Athletic guys. Um, this kind of describe what each of them brings to the game and how you see them both fitting into the league when they get there. Yeah so I just start with Hamsa Nasreddine a player that was a highly talented player coming out. Um I believe he started at wide receiver and then also play some B. B. As well. He was coming out of concord. It really was a do it all player for them. They do a really good job at that program down there. They passed some really good players come out of there. Uh Even going back to one Hamsa was there. So with Thompson very versatile player. That's the one thing that really stands out about him as far as the word. That would be a top his draft resume. His draft profile played at linebacker, played safety, really played all over the place. Had the torn A. C. L. A couple years ago. I was able to come back Nice. He got an interception against NC State and you could just tell that he was just happy to be on the field. He came out and did really well at his pro day as well. So I'm sharing for him. I'm hoping he can end up going somewhere on day two World Day three. I think that's probably a very range for him right now. The Divine Diablo, another interesting case as well came to Virginia Tech as a wide receiver. That's really all he played at Mount Tabor uh, if I'm not mistaken. So, um, made the, made the switch to the other side of the football and really hit his stride as well. But I think the factor that's really going to help him out the most is just his presence on special teams. And when you're talking about a player of that size about six ft 3 £210 very fluid mover as well played. I think over 700 reps on special teams if I'm not mistaken. So that's a ton of reps when you're talking about a player of that statute, um, extremely physical at the point of attack as well. So even if he doesn't get early reps at the position, uh, safety, he's going to be a day one contributor on special teams. So when you're talking about players of that stature in the draft room, you want to wear as many hats as possible and him having this special teams hat in his corner is going to help him a lot. One of the more interesting guys, we've talked about some guys who have changed positions from high school to college that's somewhat normal. A little less normal is changing positions within college Chaz surat of north Carolina was the quarterback very early on in his tar heel career, he makes the transition to linebacker, uh, and it goes outstandingly for him. Um, what do you see in his game? That leads you to believe that he could eventually be a contributor at the NFL level on defense? He really surprised a lot of people as far as how quickly he progressed from quarterback to linebacker. That's just a switch. You don't really see a whole bunch of football. You see guys go from wide receiver corner or DB or, you know, an opposite end of the spectrum, but you very rarely ever see somebody go from quarterback to linebacker. So how well he was able to put that together and then how well he transitioned to. It was very promising to see still a little bit wrong at the position. I would say that about him right now, but it's understandable because he's only played linebacker for two years and I think it's smart, really comes to fruition a lot, as far as what we saw from him at the quarterback position, he played predominantly mike for them, which is middle linebacker, so very fast and physical type of player. And I've had a lot of experience with Chaz um when I was coaching at north Carolina Central used to help out with the quarterback over there, back when keith checking door was the OC at Carolina when he was playing quarterback. So um I thought it was a really good thrower of the football. So when he made the switch, I thought it was very interesting but ended up helping out for his career. Yeah, he's definitely a great quarterback in high school. He owns the all time record for most touchdowns, responsible for I think about 2 30 just crazy production of the high school level his brother to which we'll get into in a little bit. Um, this next guy here, Cornell pal, I really like him. He is kind of uh mostly buried in the Clemson depth start, water receiver for last few years. He came out, Jh Rose in 2016. He's a four star prospect back then, but he really came on this last season. Um now they had a chance to step up. So what do you like about Cornell pal? Mhm. I think he's one of the more underrated players in this entire draft class and he's gonna go on day three and this might be a bit of a throwback name for you guys that you might not remember. But he reminds me of Jason, haven't they used to play for the equals. Yeah, I'm just a wide receiver three that's going to play in that league. That's it. He reminded that a lot of Jason haven't similar build was gonna play in the league, Going to play in the league forever, going to be on every single special teams and he's going to be a wide receiver 3, 10 to 12 years because he doesn't drive anything and he's going to provide value in so many different areas. So I think he's one of the more underrated players of any prospect across the board. You can't really go wrong picking a wide receiver from Clemson. They turned those guys out like crazy there. Um, we've got one quarterback on our list and it's Jamie Newman out of Graham. Uh, he went to Wake Forest for a bit, transferred to Georgia. Um, just a dynamic player, Obviously a dual threat guy. Um, but kind of a project in terms of an NFL pick. I think some teams looking for a backup they can develop are going to be interested in Newman. What do you see in his game that that kind of lends that sort of evaluation of you Sure. Yeah opinions are kind of all over the place about him right now. Just because it's so long since we've seen him we haven't seen him days at Wake Forest of where he was able to have extreme production. I think he was second in total yards and the A. C. C. During that electric 2019 season goes down to Georgia ended up opting out of the season during training camp. So we really didn't get to see him at all at Georgia. And then the first time that we saw um was at the Senior Bowl. That was the last time that we saw him. But I think he had done it as far as him being a project. I think that's the one area that really, a lot of people label him out right now. Um, a flamethrower of the football. That's really all that he knows right now. He's just a fastball pitcher and he's going to throw it constantly even if he's throwing a five yard wraps the perimeter, he's going to throw it as hard as he can. So he needs to tame that down a little bit. I think that's the area that he needs to work on. So just getting some more pitches in his arsenal. I think that's something that he's going to need to prove on the most. But as far as the project definitely is very intriguing. I'm really excited to see him get some reps in the preseason. I think of all these guys, he's, he's the one I'm gonna be most prone to tune in to see what they're doing in the preseason if he does, in fact get the opportunity. Yeah. Um, next upstate share a big wide receiver. I wait for us. Um, he started a career, at least Lincoln like his brother Chaz. I went over to Lincoln 10 to finish his career. Um, a big receiver. I want to go over his all time records in high school. If you don't mind a career leader in receptions, 3 66 receptions in a season 1 29 receiving yards in a season, 2104 touchdown receptions. All time, 80 and career receiving yards. 5926. So he's the most decorated receiver in north Carolina high school history. Um, what did you see him do it? Wait for us. That's going to make him a nice NFL prospect. Thank you. Yeah, I mean those records in high school were just ridiculous as far as the production that he was able to have it repaired it over to his time and wait for him. And Jamie Newman really created a lot of chemistry there when they were together. He ended up opting out prior to the year last year, which we're looking forward to seeing him last year, especially now away from Jamie Newman. Um, just to see if he could survive with another quarterback, but more of a deep ball specialist as far as going up and get the ball down the field guy. That's really where he's created calling card in the sense, so he needs to create some more branches on his route tree. I think that's the area that it needs to work on. But um, I think it was a 455 guy at his pro day. So easy burner or anything like that. But if you want a guy that can just have some vertical speed, uh, and then be that guy that can go up and get the ball in those jump ball, that contested situations. I think that's gonna be his calling card on the next level. Uh, we've got five guys left just to, to speed things up a bit. I'm going to read them all off for you And, and if one of those five jumps out to you feel free to, to offer up some thoughts. We have Mark Gilbert, cornerback out of Duke and terry Sanford. Uh, Larry Roundtree the third, the running back who went to Mizzou graduated from Millbrook and Raleigh franklin McCain the third out of N. C. A A and T and Dudley. Those two schools are very close. blake parole out of east Carolina and providence obviously from a football family and trade harvest in out of U. N. C. Charlotte and crest. Do any of those five guys kind of stand out to you as uh, maybe potential values or steals later in the draft. Okay. Mhm. Uh Larry round through the third definitely does stand out. A player that was extremely productive and interesting and interestingly enough, even a second in every category in Mizzou history behind brad smith who was a quarterback there and he ended up transition. I was in the next level. So he was a supreme athlete but very productive. A player that did experience some challenges coming out. He wasn't highly recruited, Some people thought, I didn't think he was going to qualify. So there was a lot of big schools that fell off of him and a lot of people thinking that he was going to end up with you but he ended up going to Mizzou and it ended up working out for him. So Roundtree is one that definitely does stand out. And then Franklin Matt McCain, the third player that I've gotten to know a little bit throughout the process and I think you better at FCS prospects in this draft class toward the A. C. L. In 2019 I believe it was and then came back last year and really showed some strides as well. So I think probably going to end up being 1/6 or the seventh round hopefully, but if not, it's definitely going to be a priority free agent. Uh real quick one last question. Before we let you go, we do focus a little bit on the panthers here as we are in north Carolina. Um, they have the eighth overall pick. What do you kind of see as the mix or the potential fits being there for them now that they've acquired SAm Donald and AJ Boy and you know, it filled some of their needs, so to speak, but could still take some certain positions. I would be really, really surprised if it's not an offensive tackle. One of the peninsula response, I think they're going to stay at the eighth overall pick and right now they're projected. Starting left tackle is cam urban or Greg little. I just don't see how you can try either one of those guys out there to protect Sam Donald who you just invested a heavy amount of draft capital in in that trade with the Jets. So I think it's gonna have to be either response later or pencil, which everyone is left for them, which either one would be home around the panthers. All right, well thank you for that insight. Thank you for all of your insight and thank you so much for your time. Of course. Obviously a supremely busy part of the year for you. We really appreciate it and uh enjoy the enjoy the week, enjoy the draft. We're really excited ourselves, so I'm sure you're feeling the same. Yeah. Mhm. Mhm. Absolutely. Thank you guys for having me. It's always legend. Thanks. Thanks man. Take care.

I traded #11 to Tennessee for #22/53/85 using PFN simulator.
#22 I took DE Rosseau absolutely fills our need for pass rush and what he might lack in experience Pat Grahm will get him up to speed quick.
#42 I took OG Trey smith he grades out better than Wyatt Davis stronger and nastier
#53 I took WR Kadarius Toney he's tough and should be able to play the slot so we can dump Shepard and his ridiculous salary
#76 I selected LB Dylan Moses I know a lot of you are skeptical on him but he comes from the best coached team in college and he can cover in space as well as stop the run

2021 Senior Bowl: Winners and Losers - Big Blue View

) - Odighizuwa was the most disruptive defensive tackle against the run in this game. On multiple plays, he easily disengaged from linemen to stop the ball at or near the line of scrimmage. At times, Odighizuwa appeared unblockable by the opposing offensive line. His early impact came on an almost strip-sack that was ruled an incomplete pass.
Michael Carter (RB, North Carolina) - Carter was impossible to tackle during this game. His best play came off multiple forced missed tackles as he slipped easily to the second level for a huge gain. On numerous carries, it took strenuous efforts to wrap him up. Carter also showed off his route running and impact out of the backfield.
