.-Blum & Poe presenting the first major U.S. survey of work by Onomichi, Japan-based artist Yukinori Yanagi. This is Yanagi’s fourth presentation with the gallery, following his solo show at Blum & Poe Tokyo in 2019 and his participation in the group exhibitions Parergon: Japanese Art of the 1980s and 1990s (Los Angeles, 2019) and Mountains Carrying Suns (Tokyo, 2021).
Having resided in the U.S. in the late 1980s and 1990s, obtaining his MFA in sculpture from Yale University School of Art in 1990, Yanagi was first recognized on the world stage at the 45th Venice Biennale in 1993 with World Flag Ant Farm (1990). Corey Madden has been an innovative arts leader working across the performing and visual arts as well as in higher education for more than 30 years.

.- Following a year of successful recovery from impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Monterey Museum of Art has named its interim leader as Executive Director. Corey Madden, who has led and advised arts organizations across California and the country, was chosen unanimously by the Museum’s 11-member board.
Ms. Madden has served as Executive Director of the Kenan Institute for the Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Founding Artistic Director of L’Atelier Arts in Los Angeles, and Associate Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group at the Music Center of Los Angeles. ....

.-The Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts announced today the eighteen recipients of its first Organizational Support Grants. For 2021, this new initiative replaces the organization’s Artist Project Grants in order to address the immediate needs of Los Angeles arts organizations contending with the devastating effects of COVID-19. These grants provide unrestricted funding of up to $30,000 to help organizations maintain their daily operations and continue their invaluable work during this period of uncertainty. The Organizational Support Grants further Mike Kelley’s philanthropic mission and honor his legacy by supporting organizations that are committed to risk taking, critical thinking, and provocation in the arts. ....
