Southern Grounds announced plans April 29 for a location in downtown St. Augustine, with work expected to begin in the next two to three months.
Coffee-chain owner Mark Janasik said he, along with McGarvey Residential Communities, will renovate the structure at 36 Granada St., the former Corazon Cinema and Cafe.
Interior demolition of the building has begun.
It is across the street from the Lightner Museum, two blocks from Flagler College and borders the historic Lincolnville neighborhood.
“In our opinion this was irreplaceable real estate that fit with our ‘community based’ approach to site selection,” Janasik said by email.
“It’s no secret that St. Augustine is an amazing food town with very talented restaurateurs, chefs and hospitality professionals … We feel the town would appreciate our sustainable approach to our business.” ....

Rep. Zeigler presents bill on behalf of Lincolnville Sewer District Board of Trustees

AUGUSTA Rep. Stanley Paige Zeigler, D-Montville, introduced a bill Tuesday that would increase the membership of the Lincolnville Sewer District Board of Trustees from three members to five.
LD 1625 came at the request of the chair of the Board of Trustees, Paul Lippman, who shared with Zeigler the difficulty in finding trustees, the amount of work the board handles and why two additional members would be beneficial for all.
“After speaking with the board chair and hearing about some of the difficulties the board has had, I was happy to introduce this bill on their behalf,” said Zeigler. “I’m hopeful that, should this bill become law, the board will have a couple more hands to lighten the load and conduct business.” ....

WINDSOR Students Brooke Borja and Boston Bowring stood Thursday against a small garden box outside Windsor Elementary School.
