KOLR in Springfield names former Steve Savard as evening news anchor

Beginning Monday, KOLR will showcase a new anchor on its evening TV newscasts.
Steve Savard has a long history in the Missouri news business, joining KMOV in St. Louis, the nation s 23rd-largest television market, back in the 1990s. Monday, he ll anchor KOLR s 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts; then beginning Tuesday, he ll add the 10 p.m. broadcast to his daily schedule, Savard said.
For many years Savard was a sports reporter covering the St. Louis Rams and other teams before becoming a news anchor in the early 2010s. Last fall, he left KMOV when the station s parent company made staffing cuts due to disruptions in advertising revenue caused by the pandemic. More recently, he s worked on a daily two-hour talk radio show, reported the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. ....

Rau, Mary Jewell McBee, 96, long time resident of Glendale, Missouri, passed away Dec. 18, 2020, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center from complications due to COVID-19.
Born April 18, 1924, in Stanford, Kentucky, Jewell had a keen interest in three things from an early age: music, science and horses. Although an accomplished violinist and talented pianist from elementary through high school, she preferred to be on horseback far more than anything else. Lucky for her, an uncle raised quarter horses that just happened to need constant exercise, love and attention. She had the storybook childhood.
During World War II, she graduated from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky. Discouraged from pursuing an engineering degree by the norms of the 1940s, she obtained two bachelorâs degrees: â one in home economics, the other in library science â from the University of Kentucky, where her father taught metallurgy.
