Judge Brian McCloud has served as Greenup County District Judge for 15 years, and now he will be bringing that experience to his new position as Circuit Judge for Greenup and Lewis Counties.
McCloud, who is proud of being born and raised in Wurtland graduated from Raceland High School in 1990. He attended law school in Louisville, graduating from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 1997.    
“And then I opened my own law office in Raceland,” McCloud said.
McCloud was elected District Judge in 2005 and said it is a position that came with a lot of responsibility, which was something he was not going to take lightly. ....

Symposium: Confronting Violence Against Indigenous Women & Peoples

The Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender, and Society are co-sponsoring the virtual law journal symposium that will discuss the violence Indigenous women and people face and countermeasures to said violence. The settler-colonial origins of the United States of America began with the genocide of Indigenous peoples. These beginnings, unfortunately, have persisted today in many forms. Indigenous peoples of all walks of life are affected by increased rates of violence compared to others. A 2016 federal report concluded over 80% of Native women will experience some form of violent crime in their lives, and over 56% will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetimes. A 2010 survey concluded nearly 1 in 3 LGBT Natives reported experiencing hate violence. ....

Judicial Nominating Commission announces circuit judge nominees for Greenup and Lewis

The Judicial Nominating Commission, led by Chief Justice of Kentucky John D. Minton Jr., today announced nominees to fill the Circuit Court judicial vacancy for Greenup and Lewis counties. The counties make up the 20th Judicial Circuit and the vacancy is in the circuit’s Division 1.
The three nominees for the judgeship are attorneys Paul Eugene Craft of Russell, Brian Christopher McCloud of Worthington and Matthew Jackson Warnock of Ashland.
Craft is a managing partner with the general practice law firm of McGinnis Leslie and serves as the city attorney for the cities of Worthington and South Shore. He received his juris doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. ....

McCloud is the District Court judge for Greenup and Lewis counties. He received his juris doctor from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, according to kentucky.gov.
Craft is a managing partner with McGinnis Leslie, a general practice law firm. He serves as the city attorney for both Worthington and South Shore in Greenup County. Craft received his juris doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
Warnock is with Warnock & Warnock and serves as an assistant county attorney for Greenup County. He received his juris doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law. ....
