New US cases during the week ending May 22nd were down 22.0% from those testing positive during the week ending May 15th, and down 64.2% from our mid-April surge high; this week s new cases were also the lowest for a 7 day period since that ending June 19th of last year. Last year, a Coastal Review series for the Pulitzer Center’s Connected Coastlines initiative looked at how hurricanes, floods, nor’easters and other major events in recent years significantly dampened any remaining skepticism on the science of climate change.

Abby Bishop joined Blue Ridge Public Radio as Development Assistant in October 2018 and became Development Associate in October 2019. Starting out as an enthusiastic listener, supporter, and volunteer with BPR, she is now thrilled to be a part of the dynamic and talented staff.
Abby received her degree in Applied Anthropology with a concentration in Sustainable Development from Appalachian State University in 2013. While attending ASU, Abby worked with Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture, a local non-profit dedicated to strengthening the High Country’s local food system, and as a student researcher in the North Slope Borough of Alaska. After graduating she moved to Raleigh, NC to take a position with the North Carolina Conservation Network where she spent 3 years working in environmental advocacy. During her time in Raleigh she also performed with the Raleigh Community Orchestra. ....
