Avocado farming promising endeavor for Tanzania

Avocado farming promising endeavor for Tanzania
The Arusha Region of Tanzania has a high potential for exports of avocados. Almost 9,000 tons -valued at $30 million - were exported last year, while some seven years before that, the number was almost zero.
Yesterday, growers could witness the launch of the first avocado cluster for farmers in the northern zone regions. The facility will assist farmers in training, input and seedlings supplies, as well as access to new processing technologies and markets.
Taha Group chief executive officer Jacquiline Mkindi said Tanzania should seize the opportunity due to the increasing demand for the food crop in international markets. She said the demand for avocados from Tanzania is much higher due to their high quality.

Into the wild: Epic pictures of magnificent beasts in their natural environment

Mohan Thomas
Taken in Kaziranga National Park in Assam, where the tigers are particularly shy and refuse to come on the road, Thomas captured this moment of evident irritability when the park was relatively empty due to torrential rains. The tiger was in the main shrubland, but Thomas had a gut feeling the cat would show itself on the road. The driver of the jeep disagreed with him but eventually agreed to move the jeep back and park it sideways so that Mohan could get a low shot. And lo and behold, just as the driver was backing up and parking, this male showed himself and was clearly displeased with the audience.
