Ross Bradshaw has plenty of memories from the plaza at 118 Cambridge St. in Worcester. In the mornings, Bradshaw’s father used to take him and his sister to a since-closed cafe there.
Now, that plaza is home to New Dia, a cannabis shop Bradshaw is opening with sights set on giving back to the community, supporting small businesses and giving customers a new experience.
“He would give us life lessons in that cafe,” Bradshaw said of his father, getting teary-eyed with the memory. “Who would have known, 20 years later me and him are here building a dispensary.” ....

Minority-owned New Dia Cannabis Supply to open March 1

WORCESTER For owner Ross Bradshaw, New Dia Cannabis Supply Co. is the antithesis of the typical retail marijuana shop.
First, it is not backed by a parent company with deep pockets. In fact, the only “parents” involved are Bradshaw’s particularly his father, Richard, who poured concrete, put up fencing and acted as a general contractor along with his son to get the shop ready.
Secondly, it is not vertically integrated, but is what Bradshaw calls “a playground” where more than a dozen different companies will peddle their product and develop their brands.
Third, and most importantly, it is owned by a local, minority business owner in an area disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs. ....
