This study examines the experimental use of vouchers in Bangladesh by 3 different agencies, funded by the EU, to address health gaps for the urban extreme poor by providing essential health and nutrition service delivery through public-private partnerships.
In the last 20 years, Bangladesh has been going through a process of urbanization. A recent estimate by the World Bank (2019) suggests that around 28.6 million people, equivalent to 55% of the total urban population, currently live in slums. Around two thirds of urban population growth are due to rural to urban migration and one-third due to natural population increase. Most of these rural migrants lack the resources to meet their basic needs including housing and health care. ....

First let me thank you for the opportunity to address you on behalf of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of Poland and on behalf of group of 51 stakeholders, including 14 national human rights institutions and 37 civil society organizations from many different parts of the globe.
Our institutions and organizations are of the firm view that a comprehensive, binding international instrument would provide the strongest protection for the rights of older persons.
Following discussions at the previous sessions of the UN OEWGA, the decision to invite relevant stakeholders to submit normative content on the thematic areas discussed, has increased understanding of how human rights apply in older age. However, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on older persons worldwide has made it clear that we need to accelerate our efforts to strengthen the international framework for the protection of human rights ....

Boulder County search for missing hiker suspended

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. The Boulder County Sheriff s Office (BCSO) said they located the dog of missing Boulder hiker, Josh Hall, who went for a hike with his dog near Nederland on Feb. 3 and didn t return, according to the BCSO.
The dog, named Happy, was found Thursday along the Peak to Peak Highway between mile markers 40 and 41.
Hall, 27, was reported missing on Wednesday evening, after he went on a hike from the Hessie Trailhead, where his vehicle was later found.
Rescue crews are still involved in a ground search for the Arvada man after deciding on Monday to suspend the effort on the ground because of heavy winter conditions. Crews said they will continue to search either when new information surfaces or until the snow melts. ....
