Gainesville again earns Bicycle Friendly Community designation


The League of American Bicyclists (LAB) has again designated Gainesville as a Bicycle Friendly Community at the silver level. And, Gainesville joins  487 communities across the country in the movement for safer streets and better bicycling for everyone.
The award, which was presented by city of Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe on May 26 on the steps of City Hall, recognizes communities for their commitment to creating transportation and recreational resources that benefit its residents of all ages and abilities while encouraging healthier and more sustainable transportation choices. The designation is the culmination of years of work by Gainesville and its citizen advocates for better biking. This award round allows Gainesville to join 37 new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Communities in the movement toward healthier, more sustainable and connected places. ....
