Right now, no place in the world is a hotter spot to conduct clinical trials that the Asian-Pacific region (APAC). This popularity of the region is not new. In 2018 China was one of the hottest topics of conversation I heard at the DIA Annual Meeting. Shortly thereafter I wrote an article that featured the insights of three experts on that region. A year later the region was still attracting a lot of excitement when I produced this piece discussing how South Korea was a growing hot spot for trials. PwC joins Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre
The global professional services firm has signed on the newest partner in the collaboration, aimed toward promoting innovation in pharma manufacturing.
CPI, one of the founding partners in the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre, has announced the signing of an agreement with PwC, making the company the latest partner in the collaborative effort. The Centre (established via a partnership among CPI, the University of Strathclyde, UK Research and Innovation, Scottish Enterprise and founding industry partners AstraZeneca and GSK) seeks to promote more innovative drug manufacturing processes and enable a more agile supply chain.
PwC and the existing partners will work to maximize technological opportunities across the pharma supply chain. Efforts include the organization’s flagship Grand Challenge projects, intended to advance emergent and disruptive technologies. The program is partial ....

A New Home Testing Kit Screens for Type 1 Diabetes

JDRF has launched a first-of-its-kind program aimed at early detection of type 1 diabetes (T1D), built around an easy to use at-home test kit.
Called T1Detect and developed by Bay Area biotech company Enable Biosciences, this new personal test kit looks for particular autoantibodies in the blood that are the most important markers for T1D.
Given that most T1D diagnoses are dramatic affairs that land many children and adults in the hospital sometimes with near-death experiences and a large majority of newly diagnosed have no warning or family history of this chronic condition, a test kit like this could be a gamechanger. ....
