Ohio's Hospice LifeCare receives $500K donation from local couple

WOOSTER - When Marilyn and Mark Gustafson learned about the expansion of services for Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, they chose to make a gift to an organization that has made a significant impact in both their lives.
The Gustafsons made a transformational gift of $500,000 to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare toward the campaign for the Center for Supportive Care.
The center will provide dedicated building space to support the needs of those in the community who are facing the end of life or need bereavement support, according to a news release from Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.
“I wanted to do something bigger for the community,” Marilyn Gustafson said in the release. “We have been blessed, and I wanted to give back and make it better for someone else.” ....

Ohio s Hospice LifeCare offered that chance Sunday at its 2021 Spring Memorial.
Ohio Hospice LifeCare helped nearly 60 families remember someone they lost during the hour-long ceremony at the Wayne County Fair Event Center. Each person s name was read aloud and a photo or two was shared in a slideshow.
On days like today, moments like this moment, we share in our common humanity because we ve all lost someone that we loved dearly, said David Hargrave, a bereavement counseling professional with Ohio s Hospice LifeCare.
A moment to grieve
The smell of carnations filled the event center as they sat in buckets until ushers distributed them to the families when their loved one s name was called. During the slideshow, silent sobs could be heard just above the music and family members wiped tears and hugged each other when their loved one s photo appeared onscreen. ....

Holmes County Eggfest BBQ showcase Coalway Charm Apple Creek

The annual Eggfest that has been hosted by Coalway of Apple Creek and Charm for more than a decade is changing its name and will be held at a new location.
The Holmes County Eggfest & BBQ Showcase will be held over two days, Friday, May 21, 3-8 p.m., and Saturday, May 22, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Mount Hope Auction grounds.
The gates open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, and the benefit buffet opens at 10 a.m., along with the on stage demonstrations.
This is the same Eggfest we have had annually for more than a decade, said Aaron Swartzentruber, owner of Coalway. We are simply moving the event to Mount Hope Auction to give it more room to grow. ....
