DETROIT – Love Only is a nonprofit that has been working to feed the homeless for over a decade.
It is more than just a hot meal here and there. The ones behind the organization have started a life goal to help those who are less fortunate especially in the African American community.
“It makes me happy to feed people. My mom kind of showed me that and it made her really happy to do it and it makes me happy,” said Love Only founder, Ivory Graves. ....

Sleeping Pods Installed in a German City to Protect Homeless People From Freezing Winter
The German city of Ulm is piloting individual windproof and waterproof sleeping pods to provide shelter for homeless people during the freezing winter months. The pods, dubbed “Ulmer Nests,” will prove life-saving for people in need.
The Ulmer Nests were launched on Jan. 8 and were placed in parks and other places where homeless people usually sleep in the city of Ulm, 75 miles (120 km) away from Munich according to a city spokesman, reported The Independent.
“Today … the two Ulm nests were repositioned, unfortunately due to corona with delay,” the team posted on Facebook, “but just in time for the really cold nights … we hope to offer a little bit of protection and security to those who most depend on it in Ulm.” ....

San Diego County Partners With Three Nonprofits to Alleviate Homelessness in Youth – NBC 7 San Diego

Mayor Todd Gloria on Thursday announced new partnerships between the city and three nonprofit organizations to bolster programs helping young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The new shelter and outreach opportunities will specifically target transition-age youth people between the ages of 18 and 24 who are experiencing homelessness or transitioning from state custody or foster care.

A Tauranga trust which already provides emergency accommodation for 110 families has unveiled aspirations for a multimillion-dollar village for the homeless.
Te Tuinga Whanau Support Services executive director Tommy Wilson said the trust was looking
to partner with local iwi or Māori organisations with land available for the village.
The village would have a kohanga reo (early childhood centre), a garden, a wānanga (place to learn) which would include learning life-skills as well as skills to get people into jobs. ....
