Conservative House Republican welcomes Clark as chief of US Chamber

The Republican Study Committee (RSC), the conservative Republican caucus, embraced the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s incoming chief executive after a year that has seen a rocky relationship develop between the lobbying group and House Republicans.
Chamber President Suzanne Clark was named the new CEO of the group and will take over for longtime CEO Tom Donohue in March.
RSC Chairman Jim Banks (R-Ind.) quickly tweeted after the news broke that he looks forward to working with her and the Chamber.

“While we will certainly disagree on some issues, conservatives agree with Chamber positions on cutting burdensome regulations, lowering taxes and creating jobs. Now with a reset of the Chamber’s leadership, I hope we can find common ground to work together on our shared goals and counter the radical Left’s job-killing agenda,” Banks told The Hill in a statement. ....

Pentagon purges advisory boards packed by Trump
The Biden administration’s recently confirmed defense secretary, General Lloyd Austin (ret.), has ordered the resignations of hundreds of Pentagon-appointed members of the Defense Department’s 42 civilian advisory boards, including a slew of last-minute appointees named by the Trump administration. The forced resignations are to take effect no later than February 16.
The Pentagon described the move as part of a “zero-based review” of all the existing civilian advisory boards and commissions, whose activities will be suspended and evaluated. These include high profile panels such as the Defense Policy Board, the Defense Business Board and the Defense Science Board, as well as boards formed on issues ranging from Arlington National Cemetery to military families and sexual assault in the military. Defense Secretary dismisses hundreds of members of Pentagon advisory boards including late Trump picks
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has dismissed hundreds of members of 42 Pentagon advisory boards, including controversial late appointments by the Trump administration, as the Pentagon announced a review of the boards’ memberships Tuesday.
The announcement comes after the previous administration appointed several loyalists to advisory boards in the final months of former President Donald Trump’s term including former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, who served as his deputy campaign manager.
The Pentagon took no pains to hide the fact Austin took the action because of concerns the Trump administration had openly packed some boards with loyalists. ....
