Early voting is underway for the May 4 Primary Election, but not all Guernsey County residents will have issues to vote on. 
The ballot only has two issues which will be for residents in three precincts. 
Republican voters that live in Cambridge City in precincts 4-A and 4-B will be voting on the only contested race for the 4th Ward council representative.
Candidates vying for the seat are Samuel Grubbs and Mike Zaleski.
Grubbs is running against incumbent Zaleski, who was appointed by the Republican party to fill the vacancy created when former member Jack Marlin resigned after he was elected a county commissioner in the November 2020 general election. ....

April is National Volunteer Month, and even though many of Wheeling Township s volunteers reduced their service hours due to the pandemic, the Township still benefitted from many individuals, groups and businesses who remained committed to helping others in need throughout a challenging year.
Like many other organizations, the Township s numerous volunteer opportunities were severely tested by the initial lockdown and social distancing, but key programs and services such as the Food Pantry, Home Delivered Meals and Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) still pressed on, undeterred. In some instances, service delivery looked a little different, but for the commitment and concern for residents in need remained the priority ....

Economist and social scientist Thorstein Veblen has been called one of America’s most original and creative thinkers. His highly acclaimed treatise “The Theory of the Leisure Class: An Economic Study of Institutions” (1899) introduced the term “conspicuous consumption.” Veblen’s body of work remains seminal reading in understanding the modern consumer society and criticisms of capitalism.
Thorstein Bunde Veblen was born on July 30, 1857, in Cato Township, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. He was the sixth of twelve children born to his parents, Thomas and Kari Bunde, who had emigrated in 1847 from Vang, Valdres, Norway. In the summer of 1865, the family moved to Nerstrand, Wheeling Township, Rice County, Minnesota. ....

During the April 6 Municipal Election, 12.56% of registered Livingston County voters went to the polls. Chillicothe voters elected Reed Dupy as First ward COuncilerpson and the .30 real-estate tax to establish a funding source for the fire district passed. 
In the City of Chillicothe, the only contested race was for Ward 1 City Councilperson. Reed Dupy won the election with 189 votes to Michale Smith s 129 votes.
Dupy said he will serve the city in the same positive manner he has previously done. 
I would like to thank the citizens of the Chillicothe first ward for their support in my election bid.  I will be responsive and approachable as I was during my previous council tenure, Dupy said. I would also like to thank those individuals and businesses that assisted me in the campaign.  Lastly, I am most grateful for my beautiful wife Terri for her help and tolerance during this race. ....
