In service, satisfaction Virtual ‘Legacy of Learning’ session will address everyday altruism As a Guiding Value, “service before self” shapes the Norwich University’s community’s behavior and attitudes. During the coronavirus pandemic, marked by distancing and remoteness, service may sometimes amount to simple kindness. At 12:30 p.m. Friday, the Center for Civic Engagement will lead a virtual “Legacy of Learning” session on service “Service-Living: How to Integrate Service into Your Everyday Life for a Positive Impact.” In the session, Center for Civic Engagement Director Nicole DiDomenico M’15 and Assistant Director Abigail Joyal ’19 will join moderator Jenny Goudreau ’90, a professional educator and leadership coach, to explore volunteerism virtual or distanced and its benefit to mental and physical health. ....

Anarumo decks out Woodbury Hall to make holidays merry and bright And what to our wondering eyes should appear … but a pair of toy soldiers, a scattering of deer. Led by a mouse, near a pair of St. Nicks, who was grinning and tall and most surely called Mick. Norwich University President Mark C. Anarumo demonstrated his yuletide creativity in his first holiday season on campus. By decking Woodbury Hall, he displayed his favorite decorations and followed Gov. Phil Scott’s statewide call for spirit-lifting displays. Outside Woodbury Hall’s entrance, Anarumo stationed the inflatable soldiers, who wore red duds instead of Corps of Cadets fatigues, and stood at either side of a “toy shop” sign. To the soldiers’ left stood two giant snowpeople, with carrot noses and coal-drop grins. In their scarves and fur hats, they were braced for New England chill, even if snow was scant. ....
