Officials: 17-year-old dies in drowning at Cocoa Beach

COCOA BEACH, Fla. - A teen has died after drowning in Cocoa Beach, according to the Cocoa Beach Police Department.
Officials said the 17-year-old was found unresponsive in the surf near the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier at about 9:15 a.m. on Saturday and brought to shore by other surfers.
Officials said the teen was surfing when his friend noticed him facedown and unresponsive.
Nearby surfers pulled the teen out of the water and began resuscitating him until paramedics arrived, according to police.

Cocoa Beach Air Show plane makes emergency water landing near Patrick

“He was sputtering down the beach and I was like, oh he doesn’t sound good and I just started filming, Schrader said.
“It looked like (the pilot) pulled up at the last moment and avoided any spectators, there were loads of people on the water, and then I saw him on top of the plane. It looked like he was OK, she said.
The pilot reportedly declined medical treatment after the incident, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue officials.
The TBM Avenger performing in the warbird parade had a mechanical issue and the pilot was able to bring the plane down close to the shore. Rescue personnel were immediately on scene and the pilot is OK, according to Cocoa Beach Air Show officials in a prepared statement. ....

After flying in from Las Vegas, six U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds pilots shut down their engines and popped open their canopies in tandem along a Patrick Space Force Base taxiway.
The Thunderbirds zoomed above the Space Coast and touched down about 4:50 p.m. Thursday in advance of this weekend s Cocoa Beach Air Show.
