China’s largest jewellery retailer backs mined diamonds
Chow Tai Fook has more than 4,500 stores in East Asia and the United States. (
The Natural Diamond Council (NDC), which groups the world’s seven leading diamond producers, has inked a deal with China’s top jewellery retailer Chow Tai Fook to boost demand for mined rocks in the Asian market.
The partnership, the trade organization’s first collaboration with a retailer, seeks to attract young Chinese customers to naturally produced diamonds.

Several diamond and jewellery industry associations have demanded Pandora Jewelry retract elements of a recent statement regarding its decision to stop stocking natural diamond, claiming it promotes the “false and misleading narrative” that lab-created diamonds are “an ethical choice” when compared with natural diamonds.
In a joint statement dated 7 May, the Natural Diamond Council (NDC), CIBJO, the World Diamond Council (WDC), the Responsible Jewellery Council (IJC), and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) objected to the messaging in Pandora’s announcement of its new lab-created diamond range, Pandora Brilliance. ....

Pandora Jewelry introduces lab-created diamond range, phases out natural diamonds

Pandora Jewelry has launched its first collection set exclusively with lab-created diamonds, and has announced plans to phase out natural diamonds from its product lines.
The jewellery company had previously used both man-made and mined stones across its collections, albeit in very limited quantities. Worldwide, natural diamonds were set in approximately 50,000 of the 85 million pieces it manufactured in 2020, the
New York Times reports.
With sustainably lab-created diamonds, we intend to make diamond jewellery available to more consumers and to extend its usage from special occasions to something that can be worn and enjoyed every day ....
