BROCKTON A year after taking office as Brockton s 50th mayor, Robert Sullivan gave his first State of the City address on Thursday evening. The speech was prerecorded and delivered virtually, airing live on Brockton Community Access, including its YouTube page, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The coronavirus, which has disproportionately affected the city, was at the forefront of Sullivan s address. As of Thursday, 10,924 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic and 368 residents have died after contracting the disease. But the mayor also discussed several other topics, including economic recovery after the pandemic and small business aid, efforts to reopen the schools that have been fully remote since March, diversity and inclusion, the opioid epidemic and other topics. ....

Collaborating with Coats for Kids and an extended partner’s network of local businesses and organizations, Cipriano has become a point person to make it all happen after a friend reached out for his assistance in Lynn.
