A flatbread at the Punch Bowl restaurant in the new Hilton Garden Inn in Brookline Village.
Where to: Punch Bowl, a “modern city tavern” in Brookline’s Hilton Garden Inn.
Why: It’s run by Jen and Josh Ziskin, the wife-husband team behind two proven favorites: Italian restaurant La Morra and the Heritage of Sherborn, with its New England farm-to-table aesthetic. A brand new restaurant in a brand new hotel! Nature is healing.
The backstory: Josh grew up in Brookline, and Jen taught history here before they opened La Morra almost two decades ago. So naturally they were inspired by the story of the Punch Bowl Tavern, which opened in 1730. “It was such a community epicenter that they named Brookline Village ‘Punch Bowl Village’ after it,” Jen says. The tavern was also a stop on the stagecoach route that took travelers from Boston to the MetroWes ....

Sherborn Select Board discusses impact of pandemic on residents

Sherborn Select Board discusses impact of pandemic on residents
Sarah Freedman, Correspondent
SHERBORN With the concern about the mental and emotional health of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, the COVID-19 team broached the topic of how to address a concern or issue for parents at the April 15 meeting of the Sherborn Select Board.
Spreading the information for parents in the community, Board of Health Chairwoman Daryl Beardsley referred people to the Massachusetts government website, https://www.mass.gov/, where they can find resources about mental health concerns during the pandemic. She also shared the site https://handholdma.org/, a site managed by a “team of mental health and child development experts in partnership with parents.” ....

Soles of Medfield taking part in New Life 5K Trail Run

Soles of Medfield taking part in New Life 5K Trail Run
SUBMITTED BY TOD DIMMICK
Soles of Medfield Running Club is one many teams with deep local roots that will participate in the New Life 5K Trail Run. We asked John Trigg, one of the club organizers, about Soles of Medfield, and why they love this particular event.
Trigg said that Soles of Medfield has members from all around the “greater Medfield” area, including Medfield, Millis, Sherborn, Norfolk, Walpole and other towns.
“We started as a loose collection of friends and neighbors training for a half-marathon in 2015, and the team snowballed from there,” he said. He added that what evolved from a mailing list to a Facebook group is now a formal nonprofit running club with a regular schedule of runs of all lengths. Trigg says team members come from all experience levels; from couch to 5K  to ultramarathoners. He said, “We re just here to provide community and support.” ....

Greater Worcester has benefitted slightly from pandemic migration

If the coronavirus pandemic was supposed to send people fleeing high-priced dense cities in favor of more affordable options where people can work remotely, the Worcester area has not been a major beneficiary.
A new analysis by the real estate firm CBRE Group shows fewer people moved out of the Worcester metropolitan area in 2020 than did in 2019, at least from those moving to or from elsewhere in Massachusetts. But fewer also moved in, leaving the area with what appears to be only a slight advantage.
Nearly all those departing residents stayed close by, CBRE found in its national look at where people moved during the health crisis. Many of the largest and most expensive urban areas saw residents flee, including Boston, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. ....
