SHOALS â Mailbox Improvement Week was May 16â22 and the U.S. Postal Service is asking all homeowners to inspect and repair their mailboxes. âRepairing suburban and rural mailboxes improves the appearance of our community and makes delivering and receiving mail safer and more secure for our carriers and customers, â declared District Manager, Jodi Nascimento. âThe Postal Service makes this annual request because of the wear and tear that occurs to mailboxes throughout the year. MONTGOMERY – Time is running out for public input on the Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities (ACDD) five-year state plan. Individuals have two weeks left to comment regarding the 2022-2026 plan draft goals and objectives regarding such areas as education and early intervention; employment; formal and informal community supports; and health. The ACDD state plan can be read at www.acdd.org. The website has an option to translate the plan into other languages. The ACDD is responsible for developing a state plan, which guides the efforts of the Council. Consistent with federal requirements, the draft state plan goals and objectives are being released for a 45-day public comment period ending midnight June 2, 2021. ....
FLORENCEâ More than a dozen graduates were honored as part of UNAâs recent spring commencement ceremonies .  The Turris Fidelis Key was presented to two students, and 11 students received the Keller Key award. The Turris Fidelis Key is awarded to a graduating senior on the basis of outstanding service to the University and scholastic achievement. Recipients of this award are selected by a committee of faculty, staff, and students. This yearâs recipients are: ⢠Charles Samuel Gordon, of Russellville, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts and a minor in History. He has a 4.0 grade point average. ....
FLORENCE â Kim S. Kraft was recently elected to the board of directors of First Southern Bank and to First Southern Bancshares, Inc., according to Joe Beaver, President and CEO.  Kraft graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Kennesaw State University. She earned a Masterâs of Business Administration Degree from Duke University. Kraft is currently an adjunct professor of finance at UNA, and is the Chief Financial Officer for American Promotional Events, Inc. and Anderson Press, Inc. She served as CFO for Waffle House for seven years and was Senior Vice President at SunTrust Bank in Atlanta for 19 years. Kraft also serves on the Board of the Business Council of Alabama. ....
