STAMFORD A Bridgeport man was charged with murder Thursday morning for allegedly killing a 35-year-old Stamford mother in September.
Police said an investigation revealed that Ian “Easy” Evans, 24, is the one who pulled the trigger in the shooting death of Shernetta Dunmore at a block party on the city’s East Side.
Evans, who was already facing charges in relation to the shooting, was hit with the new felony charge as he attended Stamford Superior Court on Thursday. ....

STAMFORD A city man accused of hoarding gasoline, smoke grenades, spike strips and a stolen gun following an incident in which he injured four police officers last year was court-ordered to undergo mental evaluation and rehabilitation at the state’s only maximum security psychiatric hospital on Wednesday.
Judge Gary White ordered Amin Hasan, 44, transported to Whiting Forensic Hospital after a psychiatric evaluation in February found that he is not competent to assist in his own defense. ....

A proposed bill would invest $445 million more in K-12 education next fiscal year by restructuring the state’s education grant, with the most money going toward the neediest districts.
Stamford schools would receive $6.84 million more from the state than proposed in the governor’s flat budget.
City officials have argued for years that the city’s education system is underfunded by the state.
Ryan Fealey, finance director for Stamford Public Schools, said the increase to the education cost sharing formula, or ECS, would be welcome. ....
