Print The fifth annual Interfaith Awareness Week on Aug. 8-15 is set to bring together folks from various faith traditions for virtual discussions hosted by different faith communities. This year’s theme is “Visioning an Equitable, Inclusive and Pluralistic Global Society.” The event’s opening ceremony is slated to be livestreamed in more than 100 countries. Interfaith Awareness Week grew out of a five-day interfaith conference, known as the North American Interfaith Network’s conference, in August 2017 at UC San Diego. The event drew more than 250 people representing 20 faiths. The event was organized by the Poway Interfaith Team formed in 2006 to encourage interfaith dialogue. ....

The late Indigenous Australian actor and musician Stephen Albert played many roles, but one of his most significant was his stint aged just 27 as the first Chair of the National Aboriginal Education Committee (NAEC) from 1977 to 1981. A TRIO of unsung Montgomeryshire residents are celebrating being recognised in the Queen s New Year s honours. Robert Robinson, of Llanfair Caereinion has been awarded the MBE for public service and volunteer work, while Cathy Knapp-Evans of Caersws has been awarded the BEM for services to the arts in Wales. Llanidloes-based Jeanne Olive Nuttall, Head of Service for Nutrition and Dietetics at Powys Teaching Health Board also received the BEM for services to Nutrition and Dietetics. Mr Robinson served as clerk to Welshpool Town Council for a number of years until last year, is secretary at Llanfair Caereinion Bowling Club, a volunteer with the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, and has also been involved in the MS and Dementia societies. ....
