Composer Tells Father's Story From Auschwitz To St. Louis In Rock-Opera Concert

Composer Jeremy Schonfeld debuted his Iron & Coal concert in 2018 at the Music Center at Strathmore Music Center in Maryland.
Jeremy Schonfeld describes his upbringing as one in the shadows of a Holocaust survivor. His father, Gustav Schonfeld, was 10 years old when he was forced into a Nazi concetration camp. Nearly 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, including many of the Schonfelds’ extended family.
After surviving the Holocaust, Gustav moved to St. Louis and became a doctor at Washington University. He continued to search for answers and he detailed those quandaries and journey from Czechoslovakia to the St. Louis area in his memoir “Absence of Closure.” ....

'A Quick 5' with Christian Douglas, appearing in 'Midnight at the Never Get' at Signature Theatre

From April 30 – June 21, 2021, Signature Theatre will virtually present “Midnight at the Never Get” with book, lyrics, and music by Mark Sonnenblick and conceived by Sam Bolen, Max Friedman, and Mark Sonnenblick. The show is directed by Matthew Gardiner. It stars Sam Bolen, Christian Douglas and Bobby Smith.
The playas first presented in April 2015 with the name “Midnight at the Rialto.” It then was produced by Don’t Tell Mama and had its limited run extended. In 2016, the production received rave reviews at the New York Musical Festival, with sold out performances. ....
