Economice accomplishments in North Carolina were substantial. Governor cooper, whether he deserves it or not, will get much of the credit because he is the governor. Much of the credit goes towards the republicanled General Assembly and policies they have pursued since they took control in 2011. Especially when they passed a major tax reform bill in 2013. Becauseeaping rewards of changes put in place largely because of republicans. Roy cooper got the benefits of that in his first year in office. Becausedeserve credit he is a salesperson for North Carolina. Roy cooper is trying to sell North Carolina as a place to do business and he does deserve credit for that. More creditto get than he deserves because he is the chief executive, but a lot theredit does belong to republicanled General Assembly. Think to watch, some may see this as of secure, but whatever the u. S. Supreme court does in the partisan , this couldng cases have a huge impact on the way we elect congress through our future. U. S. Ous rulings from the Supreme Court has said the United States does not have proportional representation, meaning if you if the democrats get 55 of the vote, they should get 55 of seats in congress or vice versa. The courts ruled against that. Oppose partisan gerrymandering have been trying to get at proportional representation i other means. If the court says we are going to take this efficiency gap or some other way against the idea that too much partisan gerrymandering is unconstitutional, you could see impact on the makeup of the u. S. House of representatives. It will have an impact here in North Carolina. We have a couple of cases in court now, in which the General Assembly in true districts for 13 Congressional District ofbers with the purpose electing 10 republicans and three democrats. One of the stories that captured National Attention is going on in the house of delegates whether because of the selection decided by one vote, where does it stand today and if their answer being a republican agreement, what does it look like for the governor . Guest the agreement went into effect seven years ago because for a long time the Virginia House of delegates thanks to harry byrd who also has a statue and a noted segregationist, he had a machine that the Virginia Senate strongly in control of the Democratic Party, that was broken about eight years ago and a plurality was reached they wrote a powersharing agreement between the two parties to set up Committee Chairmanships and everything else. The interesting thing in the there is act race is Court Proceeding that has been requested by the democratic candidate and the judges are not in the United States. They are in on vacation. The General Assembly begins on the 10th and we may not have a resolution until days before hand when the judges look at it. It is a flatfoot tie. Both sides have 1108 votes each for the races.
