eight months after hurricane sandy and reopened july 4th. but unlike mother nature, this shutdown could have been avoided and that's made for a greater sense of disappointment, especially from first time visitors. >> you couldn't go to the statue of liberty? >> we couldn't but we couldn't get up there. >> we have taken the kids out of school and trying to make this big educational trip and, you know, so we got the boat tour inste instead. >> a similar scene in communities around the country. over 400 national parks and monuments have been closed because t of the shutdown. that means you've got businesses that don't have tourists, people out of work and you've got vacationers that are simply disappointed. uma, back to you. >> tough scene all of the way around. all right, bryan, thank you. the house republicans just passed a bill giving back pay to furloughed federal workers once the government reopens. so far there seems to be no end in sight to this shutdown.
