The R. Thornton Brodhead Naval Armory on the east Detroit riverfront is proposed to become home to The Parade Co. after a $35 million-plus redevelopment that would also include tearing down the rear portion of the building.
After more than an hour of discussion, the Detroit City Council has approved the sale of the R. Thornton Brodhead Naval Armory property to The Parade Co.
A pair of Tuesday afternoon approvals mark another step forward for The Parade Co.'s planned redevelopment of the historic armory site on the Detroit River, where the nonprofit plans a $36.5 million project that would result in tearing down much of the building for a new headquarters at 7650 E. Jefferson Ave. across from Belle Isle.
