Downtown goes to the dogs, this week in Abilene
In celebration of the dog days of summer, the Center for Contemporary Arts will conduct the annual "DogWalk" edition of ArtWalk from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in downtown Abilene.
Leashed dogs will be welcome to join in for costume and trick contests, paw print painting and more, or to cool off in a swimming pool.

Dachshund races
Rescue the Animals SPCA will present the annual Dachshund Races and Rescued Dog Reunion on July 15 at the Festival Gardens at Nelson Park, with gates opening at 5 p.m.
