They were slow, steady and noisy.
A caravan of dozens of vehicles paraded down Paris Street and Ramsey Lake Road on Friday, before turning into Laurentian University and snaking its way through campus, past the Parker building, which holds many of the administrative offices, and the hill to the beleaguered federated universities.

It was a slow and solemn parade under moody skies and brisk winds. Save for the absence of a hearse and the constant honking of horns, it could have been a funeral procession.
