In a remote corner of the 800 acre Shakahola forest in Kilifi County, Kenya, a tale of death and deception spanning years unfolded, as unsuspecting individuals fell victim to a sinister scheme orchestrated by Pastor Paul Makenzi, a prominent religious leader and founder of the 'Good News International Church'. Promising enlightenment through a deadly fasting program to meet Jesus, Makenzi convinced scores of followers to sell their land and belongings, donate the proceeds to him and to enter a fasting program which ultimately, would lead to their death.
