Masters of the Air is brilliant TV – but it isn't accurate

Masters of the Air, the new Second World War drama from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks whipping up a storm on Apple TV+, has all the virtues of a great American TV production. It is lush, lavish, and well-scripted with believable characters and gripping storylines and the air battle scenes convey starkly the claustrophobia and corrosive fear inherent in going to war over Germany in a B-17 Flying Fortress.
