The New Deal was the crowning achievement of former Democrat President Franklin D. Rooseveltâs tenure and was credited with being a major factor in carrying America through the Great Depression and World War II.
It was the introduction of the âbig governmentâ solution to the nationâs financial troubles, and Democrats have been trying to reinvent FDRâs publicly popular plan ever since.
Now, President Biden and his administration believe the coronavirus pandemic and all the social and economic ills it has wrought has presented them with a golden opportunity to replicate the New Deal in the 21st century. Itâs called the American Jobs Plan and carries a price tag of from $2.5 trillion to $3 trillion plus, depending who is doing the interpretation.
