When I was a kid, my bicycles were friends, race cars, and trusty steeds.
My first was a red Radio Flyer tricycle. It looked like the ones you can purchase at Target or Walmart but weighed about 700 pounds. I could’ve had an entire Chinese acrobat team on the back step stacked one upon the other, reaching 700 or 800 feet into the sky.
My second bike was a short-lived, forgettable two-wheeler with training wheels. The nut holding the training wheels was loose, so between learning how to ride a two-wheeler and getting a “big girl bike,” I twisted each one up and out of the way. With one up and one down, they acted as kickstands.
