Simple acts against women that you didn’t know are sexist

I once sat in a boardroom full of men, some powerful, some experienced, some my juniors, others guests.
I was the only woman in the room which was made clear when one of the powerful men pointed at me and said, “Njambi, since you are the woman in the room, why don’t you take down the minutes of this meeting?”
I couldn’t help feeling that this powerful man, who has no clue as to whether I can write minutes, or care that someone else could write the minutes, used my gender as a reason to assign me an entry level role that could as well be done by anyone else.
